I have spent a lot of times in Amsterdam during my life. But long time has gone since the last time I was in the dutch capital. Finally I had the chance to go back this year, during the Christmas time. I soon discovered that many things have changed since then but the feeling is still the same. The liberal and easy city, the classical tall and black bicycles, the streetcars gently brushing the pedestrians in the crowded city centre, the cosy wooden interiors and the nicotine-stained walls and ceilings of “brown cafè”, those things are still unchanged. But I discovered as well the 2015/2016 fourth edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival, celebrating a theme of ‘Friendship’. A lot of conceptual works, all lighted, have been strategically positioned along the canal to take advantage of the water reflections. But there was also an Illuminade walking route to explore the festival on foot. The theme, here, is the light. For this reason visitors will better enjoy discover this installation at night, when all the works will be turned on.
