Summer islands 2021

This summer shows small signs of a return to normality even though every minute we have to deal with dark premonitions about a Covid worsening the next coming Fall from all the media and the experts. Anyway, sooner or later, all this nightmare, will be over.

But for now, as I said, it looks a bit better in terms of traveling. I have collected some travels so far, but all of them have seen me to land in some islands.

First I was in Capri, with the iconic Faraglioni to later go to Ischia for a first taste of the summer. After that I went to Ponza, facing the Roman coast to cover an assignment for an Italian travel magazine. It was a bit off season, so I enjoyed a wonderful time in Ponza with no many tourists around yet. The downside was that many restaurants, shops and hotel were still closed or working the last things out to be ready for the season. Next stop was Vulcano, in the Aeolian archipelago, Sicily. My stay in Vulcano was perfect for the first days, then a sudden wave of heat arrived from Africa bringing a lot of sand suspended in the air. It looked a bit like being on Mars and unfortunately it was almost impossible get good shots since visibility as well as the heat, made difficult to work. So my plans to visit some other Aeolian islands to “update” my archive with fresh images, were canceled or, better, postponed.

In the next days I’ll be back to Ischia for new gigs hoping in a better weather and a bit of fresh air compared to the heat we have nowadays. In the meanwhile I’m posting some of the images I collected so far hoping to give you an hint on your next travels, if you’re still thinking about.

Have a great summer!
